Vision statement

Since its inception in February 1997 Voices in Praise (VIP) has maintained a consistently high standard in the type of music they perform .
Led by conductor and musical director, John Chatfield and accompanied by Pearl Tan, the choir has a membership of about 30 enthusiastic people who are skilled in performing the works of some of the best choral composers of sacred music dating from the 13th Century to the contemporary, including gospel music. This is an ecumenical choir with members coming from all parts of the Perth metropolitan area.

The choir performs at least three times a year using the Mt Pleasant Uniting Church, on the corner of Reynolds and Coomoora Road, Mt Pleasant, for rehearsals and performances. The Easter program is held during Holy week. In September there is a Spring concert called “Seasons of the Soul” and at Christmas, the last performance of the year is held on the last Saturday before Christmas. This is often augmented by a small occasional orchestra. Besides these regular performances, the choir visits metropolitan or country churches across Western Australia when requested.VIP celebrated its 20th anniversary in September 2016. It is to be noted that VIP is the only choir in WA, as far as we know, that donates all money raised at its concerts to charity. In the past 20 years approximately $30,000 has been raised and distributed to various causes.
